I bought my wife a vintage Bvlgari - perfectly square, inimitably stylish - as an engagement present. What a watch. I wore it myself on a couple of occasions, with the strap restricting my blood circulation at its largest. Honestly, I couldn't feel my fingers. Then last year she washed a pair of jeans with the watch in the pocket. What a woman!

My choice would be the cartier tank, because it is a cartier tank. I think that they are the ultimate accessory to own in my opinion.

Cartier Tank for me - classic watch. Or how about something like the Chanel J12?

I like the Bvlagri watches but I have a Chanel J12 with 12 diamond hour markers, which I think is one of the best looking watches I've evr seen! But I'm biased. I'd like a Cartier one day too.

I had 2 bulgaris and shouldn't have bought the second. IMO too bulky. I now have a Santos. Slim to hide under a shirt sleeve with ease but classy and understated.

an update retail prices are

£2030 for the bulgari
£1395 for the cartier

so quite a difference for a occasional watch downside of the bulgari is its automatic so i would have to get another watch winder wear as the cartier is a quartz so can jsut sit around easy when not being used

cartier i can get 7% off retail price and bulgari i cant get them to budge at all

Does it have to be new?

For that money get a used JLC Reverso - far classier from a true manufacture, in house movement, with a fantastic history, the lot.

Bulgari just make jewellery imo, beautifully made and designed I'm sure, but just jewellery.

Dollar gets you ten that Bulgari has a $50 ETA movement inside it.

Wouldn't call Bulgari classy. Find them really...vulgar.

Go for IWC or something.

I have a Bulgari Aluminium Diagono (or similar sp)

it's very robust and very reliable.
in my eye's also understated, but thats an opinion..
few people spot it as a decent watch, so certainly not bling enough to make your eyes water (compared to the rest of their styles...sorry, another opinion there)

I have to admit that i have no idea if it is ETA movement, it probably is, but i cant say for sure.
I picked mine up for $800 AUD, a very large discount over RRP. at that price, i cant see anything to complain about.

See the 'Wristshot' thread for a photo if you can spare the time to look.
