Hey guys, as a recent luxury watch fan I'm loving these forums...just a quick question if I may.

Thinking of going for a different strap on my Seamaster, I've owned it almost a year now and I quite fancy changing the look of the watch. Also, I find the metal bracelet a little irritating on cold winter mornings (driving the car it tends to move around a bit until my wrist expands) No idea of what to do strap wise though? Rubber or leather and where from, also can I change this myself?

Little pic of mine and my dads

Cheers all

Hi There

I would reckon a good leather strap would set off a Seamaster really nicely.

There's a guy called Toshi on this forum:

www.tz-uk.com

He hand makes leather straps pretty much to your requirements - there's loads of examples of his work in the straps section on TZ-UK.

I have one on the way for my Orsa and it has cost me £45 for a hand stitched 4mm custom made strap which I think is a pretty good price...

If you want an alternative check out www.kaktus-straps.com - they make some really nice (but pricey) straps...

Hope this helps

Try ABP paris (they have a great online order service). They will custom make a strap to your own sizes & requirements, with just about any hide.
I had a croc strap made for my panerai, 2 week delivery, about 200 euros.

Cheers for the info guys, the TZ forum had a topic on rubber straps which now has me considering one of those! I think a rubber strap would be pretty cool for day to day, more of a casual look than the bracelet...could keep that for evenings out I suppose.

The APB site is awesome! So much choice http://www.abp-paris.com/abpw/watch_straps_index.p... Just spent a while on there speccing up a nice leather strap, not sure which do go for now! Think I'll pop into the city and try on an Omega PO with rubber strap at their Bond st store, see what that feels like.

Quick tip to stop the watch sliding about is to lick your finger, run it round your wrist before putting the watch on and it won't slip as much.
Same idea as folk licking their finger before shuffling through paper or counting notes.
