Just been told that after a 7 year wait, my SS Daytona has arrived !! Unfortunately, i got bored in the meantime and bought one new/used. What do these things sell for in the current climate?

Varies on what stock the 'robbing' grey resellers have in at the time you ring them.

Ring round the usual suspects and get an agreed value for it.

I'd say privately about £5 - £5.5K assuming its a st/st with either a black or white face? There's one on tz-uk at the moment for that sort of money.

Why don't you keep it and shorten the waiting list?

I've said before, the only reason there is a waiting list, is because every ****
has their name down.

Then, when theirs comes through, they suddenly decide they don't want/need it but they want to know how much profit they can achieve.

Thus perpetuating the vicious circle that began, some years ago, when Daytonas really were sexy.

Go and buy a Panerai. hopefully you'll be stuck with it but you could then join Paneristi.com and pretend it's the greatest thing since sliced bread, while losing thousands

wink

Yes i have a panerai. 'er indoors liked the look

How would keeping it shorten the waiting list ?? Surely increasing supply into the market (selling my spare one) would have that effect?

And i didn't order it to sell for a profit, i just had no idea it would take 8 years to arrive. After 5 years i came into a few quid and decided to stump up for one. Hence the spare now.

You want to sell an extant watch to a dealer for a profit for yourself, taking a list price watch off the market.

Tell you what.

Why don't you sell it to me for list? I have a white gold on Croc, but not an ss. Deal?

Anyway. Was it new or used that you bought? You said new/used, do you know? Did you pay over list?

Is that the Lambo 360 in your profile? I've always wanted one of those.

Not, not a fan, a realist. I can buy a no-name chinese homage, made with a copy of the same movement, made of the same materials, even PVD or Titanium , for 100 pounds. I'm sure Cyberface will be along soon to tell me that for another £20 I could get one an AD would think was real, until viewed under an electron microscope... But, he would be correct.

Overpriced tat, £4000, 'cause she liked the 'pillow' shape! Yeah right.

Only folks that will pay anything near list for a used Pam are folks wanting to buy into the club... Morons in other words.

That's my point. The no-name homage IS EXACTLY the same watch, just multiply the price by 20/30/40.

Panerai is the biggest rip off, marketing to wanabees, practical joke, there has ever been.

Go ask the owners of the company, Richemont, why they suddenly started sponsoring expensive, sports/pastimes, with a brand no-one had ever heard of - and that includes fans of Sly Stallone.

And while I'm here, I may as well double post this off my chest...

...I've a Radomir, with a model number, say, eleventy eleven. My buddy has EXACTLY the same watch, but with a dif' model number?

There are about 40 billion versions of Panerai, but apart from Cali' dials and a real awkward waterproofing doohicky for the crown. THEY'RE ALL THE FECKING SAME.

Oh, except Slytech, which they no longer make, it seems, so losers can collect them.

And all the fakes I've seen have the same flaw, not that anyone would notice - but it's the cannon pinion. Again, I'm sure Cyberface knows someone that will, [picard]make it so[/picard]

Eh ??? Taking a list price watch off the market ?? How do you work that out? It's not in the market, it's only available to me. I bought a brand new one from a dealer a few years ago for a premuim. I am now selling the one i have just got for very close to that premuim. Net effect is i have had a Daytona 3 years earlier than if i had waited, for about the same price. I paid the dealer network the premuim, they are now returning it to me.

Do you understand supply and demand?

Whether you keep the watch, "only available to you", or sell it and keep the other one, that you paid a 'premium' for, brand new from a dealer, you are keeping some other poor soul waiting for their list price ss Daytona.

You have two, you want to sell the other for a profit. You are one of the reasons there is a waiting list.

I'm in the market for one of these - PM me a price, or put me in the queue if one has already been formed smile

To add:

Just in case my reasoning wasn't clear. Why did you not remove yourself from the list when you purchased your, 'premium' Daytona? Altruism?

£4450 I think.

I'd give £5250 for it no bother.

Gray dealers want £6700 for new one with the seals on, and pay £5000 to buy them in.
