I have bought a couple off the sales corner of TZ-UK.com Most of the members sell there watches once they need a new fix and you can get some quite unusual pieces from time to time.
And with the policy there, you get an accurate description of the watch, references are available in the Heroes and Villians section and you can pretty much guarantee that the watch has been loved and looked after.

Some of the more obvious options would be, watches.co.uk and watchfinder.co.uk blowers-jewellers.co.uk
All have hefty price tags, though some negotiation is usually possible
Yes all 3 of those are at the very top of the market and even above it in some cases. All have hefty price tags, though some negotiation is usually possible
I wouldn't use any of them. Use a bit of imagination/google and you'll find better and cheaper options. Of course if you're prepared to pay main dealer prices and above for the privilege of being lazy then go ahead by all means.

I agree with you that these dealers are overpriced but the reason people don't buy multi £1000 watches in private sales is because the risk of being sold a replica is too damn high these days, and at least with a dealer they'll reimburse you if found to have sold a bogus product...
The question I have is - how do we know the dealers are perfect at spotting fakes? They all claim to be...

A lot of watches get traded on there and most people on there are honest. I picked up an unworn Bell and Ross for about 700 quid under the list price. There are always a good array of watches for sale on there!

That's my recommendation too. Bought several of the forum members there with no problems. Do be aware though, it's considered very poor form just to use TZ-UK as a buying / sales resource. Certainly a BIG NO NO to sell before introducing yourself & contributing a bit.www.tz-uk.com

Well worth speaking to Kristian at Second Time Round - Located just round the corner from Bond Street tube, but always have some really cool stuff in, and Kristian is a complete car fanatic. www.secondtimeround.com
Bought several watches from these people:
www.austinkaye.co.uk
Allways have a good selection, not overpriced either. Nice showroom in the Strand as well.

Great link - only problem is I've just seen a watch and the inevitable has happened...www.tz-uk.com

I'm looking at a Precista PRS 18 or an Orsa that one of the forum members has for sale:

If I don't get the link through though I may as well get one brand new for the sake of £20. Also if I get the Precista I'm thinking of ditching the strap that's on it and getting the Hirsch rubber one...

no nothing about the Orsa but that looks nice....good luck. I like the rubber strap on it. looks like it fits well too. post up some pics when you get it!
I liked it - that's the one I went for in the end...All I know about them really is that Orsa is a Canadian one man operation run by a guy called Berg who built watches as a hobby and grew from there. I understand thay're not especially easy to get hold of, this one is limited to a run of 100 and yet they remain low cost.
Quality, from what I've read, is good and the watches are robust.
Got to say I'm really looking forward to getting hold of it and you can be sure I'll pop some pics up!
