Just back from Barcelona. Wandered into Rolex dealer and enquired about the waiting list, which turned out to be only 8 people.....if anyone's interested.

As I said on an earlier thread they aren't in nearly as much demand in places like Germany and Holland. Doesn't surprise me that Spain would be similar.

Of course the relative weakness of sterling againt the euro means you'll still pay a slight premium over UK list but nothing like the rip off prices being quoted by dodgy grey market dealers.

The days of steel daytonas being super desireable are coming to an end for various reasons. Not big enough for fashionistas, not technical enough for WiS (where's the godamn date) which really only leaves Rolex brand fetishists and they've got cool stuff like green glass Milgauss and the new deep sea dweller to get all wet about leaving the daytona as a bit of an also ran.

Agreed!

They're not exactly short in supply either, Burlington Arcade dealers must be sitting on loads of them - going by the window displays last week - but are asking £7k+ for them.

These and other well known internet grey market dealers (one of whom seems to be recommended on here all the time despite them being vastly overpriced IMO)are exactly the sort of people I'm talking about.

As they've only paid 4.5-5K maximum for their stock I hope the 2K premium they were hoping to command evaporates into thin air. Frankly these people are exploitative scum. All in my humble opinion of course.

The Daytona stands out from the rest of the Rolex range as it's the only decent looking watch they make. The rest of the range (from what I've seen and it's only my opinion) are just a bit plain and boring looking.

Wouldn't that be just that particular dealers waiting list?

Some uk dealers get 2 daytonas a year, so 8 people could easily mean 4 years wait.

Mind you thats probably better than most UK dealers can offer
