Hello knowledgeable people!

I am off to NYC at the start of October and would quite like to look in a few good watch dealers. If the missus is getting to spend time in Tiffany's, I am going to the watch stores!

Can anyone recommend some good/nice places to check out?

I really fancy a Rolex Daytona (but I doubt anywhere will have one of those), but I am looking for a place that will have plenty of stock of the usual stuff like Tag and Breitling.

Any suggestions?

Are NYC dealers as good to deal with as the ones in the UK in terms of haggling on price? I have found when buying all my watches here, I can get good money off in a very friendly fashion. Are the Yanks as kind?

Cheers for all the tips! biggrin

P~

I was in NYC w/e of 19th/20th July and visited; the AP Boutique on E57th Street, Cellini on 509 Madison Ave., and Porsche Design on 624 Madison Ave. All are in the same area as Tiffany's and had some watches that I was interested in seeing. Prices are lower than UK but no deals to be done. The general attitude of the staff these days in NYC is abrupt to the point of being downright discurtious and none of these boutique shops opened until noon on Saturdays.

Try NY time, on 6th ave in the diamond district, Ask for Yuri or Edward. Amongst the mega bling (Franck Muller with 30cts diamonds?) they had about loads of rolex, Panerai etc & half a dozen daytonas, all used, boxes, papers etc. Not sure of the exact age though. The guys there were keen to do a deal on prices, this was last christmas, so my be even more open to offers now if they are suffering the same economic slowdown.

There are loads of watch dealers in that area, i could have spent a couple of days there!

totally recommend Tourneau as I was in there in December and i picked up my Breitling from them. They also took my Tag in as p/x!

Nice place to wander round!
