Been left some money from the recent death of my dear old gran and want to buy something quite long lasting, such as a decent watch.

I know nothing about watches and could do with some 'impartial' advice really.
Obviously these things are very subjective in terms of looks and style but any suggestions would be most welcome.

I have been looking at some of the Seiko Sportura variations - such as the Honda F1;

or this (diverse selection I know);

Cheers in advance anyway.

You will get good advice if you post this in the watch section of the forum, where there are lots of knowledgable folk.

I recently bought a watch - not as much as £500 though.

Its a hugo boss watch paid £325 for it. Has a real nice feel and quite weighty.

I know fk all about watches but it looks nice

I wouldnt buy a leather strap watch - will wear faster than stainless steel.

It all depends on what you want the watch to do, and what style you like. It sounds as thought you don't know yourself.

Bit of a strange question.

Seems like the cost of the watch is more important to you than brand/style/features etc etc...

Not really - my limit is £500 (so that bit is important), but I can see how much of a 'how long is a piece of string' question this is.

But in asking I now have had 2 suggestions of brands I wouldn't have looked at.

So its worth throwing it out there perhaps!

I bought an Omega watch as a present for my brother 21st for £500-£600 a few years back. Not sure if you can still get them for that price now.

Quite a bit more that £500 now! biggrin

Unfortunately its quite a bit shy of the some of Omegas and Tags that I would ideally like.

You might want to check out Sinn, they are out of your budget new, but second hand you could get something very special.

Alternatively you could get something inexpensive that will last forever, for example my latest purchase

Suunto core £200

or Seiko Orange Monster on a watchworx strap £150 ish

I think I'm coming round to this one.

They do a Jenson Button version - but this loses out on association at the moment smile

WOW!

Don't know what that is exactly, but it looks fantastic.
My lad would love that for his BEN 10 episodes.
