... 'cause I've just bought my perfect watch
No pics because (i) I'm typing this outside enjoying the sunshine and don't want to go indoors for the camera (ii) TAG hired a better photographer than me in the first place
In the end I found myself not wanting a Mille Miglia because (to me anyway) the Carrera is simply gorgeous. It doesn't have quite the same breathtaking looks as some of the dress watches and the fantastic timepieces that remain firmly outside my budget yet it still doesn't feel like a compromise. I love the looks, weight, size and functionality. I know it's not going to fall apart or cost a fortune to service. I have a local vendor who was more than helpful (even after the deal was done) and short of a lottery win I couldn't ask for more
Thanks to Ross for the kind tip off about his GMT - that's the sort of info you can't get outside of a forum. Thanks to the people who replied to my query but also the people who have posted so much here already. Reading these threads has lead me to more information than I could have imagined as well as other websites like TZ-UK (and Werner's). It gives someone the confidence to buy a timepiece and know they won't regret it. Cheers chaps!
Andy
P.S. I'm hideously aware that this watch lark could becomean obssession a hobby and for that I thank and blame you in equal measure
Edit - Doh! Forgot to mention that the shop I bought from had a limited edition Fangio version of the Carrera Chronograph. Very tastefully done, piffling difference in price over the original but I had my heart set on a black face. If anyone's interested the shop is T H Baker in Horsham. Not affiliated / receiving sponsorship / the shop owner etc, just for info
