Where would I find TAG Heuer and Chopard to try out?
Discussion
Afternoon all,
Long time lurker, avid reader and first time poster in this neck of the PH woods
Been soaking up some of the information on here (there is quite a bit of it) and find myself wanting a nice watch. Obviously that's my definition of nice so I'm not expecting a chorus of agreement when I reveal I'm considering a Mille Miglia, Monaco or a Carrera
Trouble is I'm not sure where to go to find a decent selection as there are several variants of each of these watches. Seems from reading on here that Dominic might be the man to speak to for a respectable price on these watches and you chaps seem to constantly sniff out reliable sellers. However I want to see if the watches look right on my wrist first. I'm down Horsham way (Crawley/A24 ish) so on a weekend I can get into London without too much hassle but is there anywhere you guys would recommend? Nearer home or in London?
I'm not averse to a second hand watch in the right condition and TZ-UK gets a regular mention on here so I'm off there to have a look at the FS now. I'm not fussed about resale value either so new or "pre-owned" would be of interest, doesn't have to be Ernest Jones that I buy from
Any recommendations or hints would be really appreciated and keep up the good work - I'm already looking at the Werners Flying Watches website too
Cheers,
Andy

Selfridges is good for window shopping. I spent a good hour in there this week trying stuff out.Long time lurker, avid reader and first time poster in this neck of the PH woods

If you have got a nice watch, wear it there. Was in there 3 weeks ago wearing my beater, and didn't get the time of day from them, but those sales vultures couldn't keep away from me when I was wearing my Planet Ocean!
Try Google "carrera twin time" worked for me and only takes a few seconds

could be an idea to phone the branch to see what they have in stock.
Alternatively, you could do something really worthwhile for 10 years:

It's a small world isn't it?

have been trying to find a carrera twin time for ages to try on in a shop - if anyone has seen one - could only find one shop with the normal carrera ( both black strap )
Spotted one in Berrys Nottingham second hand in the window, if I remember correctly was up for £750 quid on a black leather strapI think Berrys in Windosr might have the watches you are looking for, give them a call before hand, not to far for you to travel and you get to have a day out in Windsor as well!
The manager there is Sally and very helpful.
As suggested earlier Selfridges is always worth visit, as is Harrods watch hall, alwys got some lovely stuff..
If you do go to London don't miss out on taking a look at Marcus on Old Bond Street, you probably wont be in the market for their product but they have some lovely esoteric kit!
best of luck

Fantastic tips guys, thanks for that. As you say Windsor's not too far and I'll be sure to dress smartly for Selfridges

if you find that you like the Chopard Millie Miglia GMT with a 'Dunlop tyre' rubber strap, then drop me a line, as I'm probably going to sell my two month old one soon!
All the best with the search.
