They are closing down, selling off all the old M&W and Goldsmiths stuff. Will be open until the lease is taken over.
My advice would be to steer well clear off the place, it ain't what it used to be.

Come to think of it M&W in Glasgow does nothing for me either.

Why?????? confused Surely a decent discount from a dealer with a stamped manufacturers warranty has to be worth a look - even if it is closing down.

THe London shop had a huge sale when they moved premises - some good deals to be had (I picked up a Buben&Zorweg winder with 75% off). I doubt the chain is going anywhere so it wouldnt bother me buying from them.

What are the comments above based on - them not being what they used to be?

Too right, just bought the wife a new tag from M&W there and for a very healthy discount!!

...And, they still have that black Tag Monaco '69' for a hefty 30% discount....

Has anyone stopped by for a look? Anyone wandering by that wants to tell me what they are flogging monacos for it would be much appreciated.
(Work out of town so it's not really feasible for a lunchtime nosey!)

It's been closing down for well over a year now. All the decent bargains were in the first few weeks of the sale, it was only the dross left when I last visited.
As back ground, used to use M&W in Edinburgh regularly for watches etc. and became quite friendly with the then manager (now manager of Watches of Switzerland in Princes Street) who basically said that when a store is closing, the crap they can't sell in other stores gets shipped up to what is basically a clearance store. Beware that not all the jewellery is M&W, they are also selling off old Goldsmiths stock, which in my opinion, is not a patch on the M&W stock.
The Glasgow store also doesn't seem to sell as high quality goods as they used to, was looking at rings with MrsP on Sunday and thought the selection was pretty uninspiring, ended up getting a far higher quality ring from Laings for a very similar price to M&W.

Not naming and shaming, just giving an personal opinion.

Nah, one I saw was a black 'flippy' Tag 69 for deffo! Might have been sold now, but there was a thread about it on here a while back where others had seen it iirc.
