Milgauss Value
Discussion
Hi, Ive been offered a brand new white dial Milgauss, Ive been told it will be worth more than the RRP, is this true? If it is it could help fund the gf's watch. Ive had a little search round tinternet and Ive seen a few things about a green glass model being worth more but thats it. Can anyone help?
Yes, the Milguas GV (Green glass) is attracting large premiums, although some of the pricing is unrealistic and I am not sure they are moving. The black dial seems a little more popular than the white; you may or may not make a small premium on it; if that is the only reason for buying, I would suggest do not.

I call bullst on the rumour.
Yes I know I'm the house cynic when it comes to Rolex marketing practice but this smells of Daytona all the way from Geneva.
NB. The 'replica' guys don't seem to have any problem securing the green glass. It's a gimmick, and it's working well. Most of the trader boys in the City are frantically trying to be the first to secure them, just like they did with the Sub LV, and just like people still do with the Daytona.
No disrespect to 993rsr who I believe has one, and you can all call me hypocrite because I paid £7.5k for a steel Daytona the minute I could afford one. But the GV Milgauss smells like another 'scam' list price to me.

Have you seen any of the replicas first hand? Its the oldest trick in the book to show photos of a genuine watch then send out something which doesnt quite look as good.I agree with your other points though (and probably the one above by default) - there cant be any difficulty in getting green glass, seriously.

The green glass is really quite attractive, and identical to photos of the real thing. And this is the 'cheap' replica (i.e. £10 chinese movement rather than proper ETA movement) that was bought to (a) acquire a nice bracelet for a project watch (it's like the Daytona bracelet with solid polished middle links), and (b) to see whether they'd got the size right.
The green synthetic sapphire glass isn't hard to make FFS. If Rolex really wanted to ensure adequate supply then they'd get another supplier who can make the goods - there will be loads of companies clamouring to supply Rolex. But no, it's another Daytona artificial supply limitation, so the ADs can sell them to their mates at list and then get a kickback on the resale above list
