Hi, somehow I have agreed to buying my girlfriend a Rolex (thats a lesson not to drink too much!) And we are also deciding where to go on holiday. Now is there anywhere that a few pennies can be saved on a new Rolex to help ease the pain or are prices fairly uniform around the world? Many thanks Paul

I think they are 'pretty' uniform, but my father-in-law just picked up a bi-metal Daytona in Barbados (nice holiday as well) for a fair bit less than he was quoted in the Middle East or here... No idea of the exact figure though, sorry!

Get away from the high streets in UK and the prices drop

Departures in LHR are about 20% cheaper than high street.

Asia may be even better, Malaysia, Singapore up to 25-30% discount, you need to shop around

Ive heard Caribbean and Florida offer good discounts too.

A friend just visited Jersey and recon there was good savings to be had on watches as they are VAT free!

My recent trips to Antigua and Bahamas showed you can get much better value than the UK.
The prices are cheaper to start with, but you can then negotiate a bit further.

Thanks for your replies Guy's. She did say that she liked the mid-size yacht master ( not the new clown like one!) But her mind changes all the time. Maybe a holiday to the caribbean is in order. In my phoning around today I was offered a white face Milgauss, didn't know anything about this model but was told that they are the new 'must have' Is this true or just sales talk?

I do love the mid-size Yachtmaster. Here's mine:

Still, thinking about selling it for an SD or Sub......

I've looked in many countries at ss sports watches and they are all similar except some you can get duty free. If you like gold, white gold, or bi metal then you can get larger discounts.

I'd combine both and get the watch duty free in the caribbean. Barbados always has a good Rolex selection to cater for the cruise ship crowd.

Either get the watch duty free at Heathrow on the way out or in Bridgetown.
