Ive just bought an old Omega Seamaster 600 which dates from the 60's and would like to get it serviced. Can anyone recomend either a decent independant in Devon that I may take it to, or somewhere that I can post it off to if you believe it to be worth it and have had good experiences with.

Thanks

I may be naive but i've always thought the UK agents were the best place for a repair/service/valet?

I recently had a 1934 omega restored by these guys (they even made a custom glass to fit as there are none left) and they also serviced my '57 longines.
They did a really good job and specialise in working on VINTAGE omegas, i.e. 70s and older. Officically endorsed by omega for work on vintage watches. Most of their business in by post.

Unfortunately an official service will cost more than the watch is worth. Id recommend a company called Time Repairs Ltd in Bolton. The Seamaster 600 is a manual watch, so youre looking at either £55 or £60 for a full repair, depending on whether it has a date function, or not. For this youll get a full strip, clean and adjustment after reassembly. Fitting new parts is free and youll receive a service just as good as you will from a dealer (they wont recommend him of course, as they wont be pocketing £100 of the £230+ theyre quoting you for an official Omega service). Id also reccommend the same watchmaker for Rolex and TAG Heuer.

Thanks Simon. Do you have a number for them please? Neither google nor Yell.com list them.

There's a really good guy in Union Street, Newton Abbot. The shop is called "Offord & Hurley" (or something similarly spelt!)

Good luck

Justin
