Discussion
I'm still a newbie but can say i've had two good shopping experiences with www.watchfinder.co.uk

Can I put in a plug for these people:-
www.authenticwatches.com
I did research on Bizrate etc. and they came out highly recommended so I ordered from them. They only deal by wire transfer for foreign purchases but the funds were transferred Monday last week, cleared their bank on Thursday and the watch delivered today by Fedex. No customs or VAT either!

Can you tell us who you ordered from so we don't have to go through the same thing
I fear this may be watchfinder as i recommended So Hi Baz1950, hows that right arm of yours??, did you get the right indicator fixed, how right you are about certain stuff
The saga continues, still no contact
Think I'll just get my money back and go to Earnest Jones.
I'm sure I've just been unlucky, but it makes my blood boil when a company promise faithfully, they'll get in touch and then don't bother

Wow cheers fellas,
Baz, don't be embarrassed, these things happen, and to be fair its more the post offices fault than it is this particular company.
I've been dealing with a guy called Mat, and to be honest he's very embarrassed at the level of customer support I've received, and after I really went off on one at him today I think the message has got accross that I'm not happy
It's so frustrating to have to do that though, cos I'm really not that type of person, I'm usually very easy come easy go, but they really pissed me off with the not calling when they said they would.
It does seem like the watch has been stolen, and as I said above this is more the fault of our great British Postal Service
The same service that, you pay for 24 hour delivery, and they promise that its tracked every step of the way, but when it doesn't turn up they won't lift a finger for 14 days
This is what the watch company are up against, and they're as pissed off as me.
So as it stands, they'll give me my money back, but I'll just have to order the watch elsewhere.
The 14 days are up on Friday, if its definitly confirmed stolen, they'll just order me another one and so it begins again, but maybe next time with a bit more luck.
To be honest I really ain't that bothered about it anymore.
I ordered the watch as a treat to myself and to mark an event in my life. (my retirement)
Well the events long gone, so the moments been lost really.
The way I feel at the moment I could just as easily cancel and spend the money on something else, cos its spoiled the whole thing for me really.
I agree with a lot of your points, as I've had a number of poor customer service experiences with online companies, all of whom end up blaming the courier company.Baz, don't be embarrassed, these things happen, and to be fair its more the post offices fault than it is this particular company.

All well and good, but who selected the courier company? Why the supplier of course!
Did they choose a filthy cheap one to maximise their profit margin? Probably.
Is it any surprise that when you spend 50p, and dispatch a box with a chimp things go wrong? Not to me.
Particularly when you're dealing with something like a £1k+ watch, I really don't think spending a bit more on delivery would ruin the business.
I'm fairly willing to bet for the savings you make in not owning a prime retail site, the business rates on it, and shop fitting etc, you couldn't afford to pay for a decent delivery company.
Anyone who knows their post (has had bitter experience with exactly how st Royal Mail really is) knows never to send something 'Special Delivery' on a Friday, because it is guaranteed next working day, not next day, so they don't deliver on Saturday.
So it sits somewhere (probably i the back of a van) for three days, with a bunch of other stuff that the thieves/staff know are high value items, especially if they paid extra to increase the insurance value, which they should have done.
If they had posted it on Thursday, you'd probably have received it!

Really pleased it's turned up. 12 days for a 24 hour delivery, come on, what's your problem with that? this is 21st century Britain you know
FWIW, Matt is a director of the company and as he will get the post costs refunded, perhaps he'll make some gesture to you in compensation?
A nice retirement present indeed, though closer than most, i'm not there yet but already bought my self 'prezzy' a few weeks ago

Good point about Friday postage
But it's finally turned up this morning
It arrived in a package proclaiming 24 Hour special delivery
Guaranteed next day
It was posted on Fri 4th July so thats exactly 12 days.
Got to go off to town now and get the strap shortened
Fantastic! I wonder if the thieving postie had realised a complaint had come in! In one of the sorting offices in Bristol where it was happening all the time, they would nick parcels, and keep them un-opened until the coast was clear. Any sniff of a complaint and the parcel would be "found" behind some trollies, or under the seat in the van some days later;)But it's finally turned up this morning
