Ingersoll - What's their standing ?

My very first watch bought for me by my parents was an ingersoll. That was a long time ago. My dad still wears it to this day and it still runs a treat. I browsed the distributors site for the uk and noted that they still only appear to make mechanical watches. So what's the quality like these days ? I am looking for a beater and want another mechanical. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
