Was thinking about selling this soon and getting a Rolex, I have been offered £1500 as a part ex but I thought it would be worth more? Its a 1996 model, very good condition and serviced just over a year ago. Would consider a trade for a Rolex if anyone is up for it?

I have a 42mm Spitfire Chrono, on a leather strap but a very similar wtach to yours... It is only 2 years old, has been serviced and had the case reconditioned last month and I didn't have much interest in it at all when i was looking at selling it!
One dealer offered me £1250 for it! However, I also have a Rolex Submariner and I love it so much, never gives me a minutes trouble and keep sperfect time (which they are not known for).
I must be honest, I love it more than my IWC! It's each to their own I guess! I wouldn't have said 3-Series and Porsche, I woudl have said that Rolex was more 'Porsche' and the IWC a more specialist marque...
So, the IWC hardly gets worn these days, sadly - But i still think it is a beautiful watch, i just don't think it is rugged enough for me to use often!
Good luck with the sale - Buy something you are happy with and don't worry what other people think! My father in law is back from hols with a bi-metal Daytona and got a big saving buying it in Barbados... I would prefer the SS though!!

+1. I also have a Submariner which kept, and now again keeps perfect time following an unusual fault repaired by Rolex UK FOC (3 years old). It stopped twice, now fine I must be honest, I love it more than my IWC! It's each to their own I guess! I have amongst others an IWC and would also class the Rolex as a Porsche, the IWC as an Italian Supercar.
Just bought an IWC Chrono last Friday (as per separate thread) i think it's nicely made, more individual than a Rolex and in my case easier to read, which was the main criteria for it's purchase. The Daytona i have for sale will be no loss, now i have the IWC, 'lovin it'
Gilford, i'll trade you on the Daytona if it interests you?
