I am sure you will all be fighting over this. Me? It leaves me cold frankly.

It'd make a fantastic desk clock for my office.

I'll wait until their CNC boxes can make the things appropriately sized for an average wrist, as in the term 'wristwatch'. I'm not quite flexible enough to bend my ankle up to my face to tell the time, nor do I think wearing watches round ones bicep particularly fashionable (nor particularly wise when said piece costs $350k)

Cool concepts though, and it's great to see people going completely against the grain. There does become a point where the main function (being able to tell the time quickly) becomes lost in gadgetry though... if it takes 20 minutes to work out what the dial is actually saying then it somewhat loses the point... as per those crazy Japanese LED watches that often require you to do a load of mental arithmetic to work out what's going on smile

Aside from the err, interesting price tag, that's just vile!

Audemars did it better years ago. The Starwheel, a watch I crave in a shameless fashion:

Hey, JAYB, would this float your boat instead?

A snip at the price it seems!

And just so you can have what you want:-

$1.75 million yikes

and then this little gem at the bottom of the page - after someone's shelled out all that money

the seller who is as tight as a gnatt's chuff said:
Buy this watch and I will personally fly any where in the world to hand deliver this watch. Buyer pays for expenses to do so.

I think if you've just spunked $1.5m on a watch that you probably wouldn't give it Parcel Farce to deliver it.

Might be easier to avoid the duty too. That would sting a little.

my point was- a nice little selling point might have been:

if you buy my (very expensive) watch, i will hand deliver it to you, anywhere in the world, free of charge.

what's the price of a round trip ticket going to be (and a day or 2 travelling) against £1.75 million?

ETA - i just realised i have no idea of the profit margin on that watch, so maybe my argument doesn't hold quite as much water as i though redface

I suspect the vendor could have added the cost of travel into the purchase price and still made a feature of being willing to travel.

I doubt anyone who was willing to pay $1,750,000 would necessarily blanch at $1,775,000. The extra $25,000 should cover a first class return flight pretty much anywhere and a decent hotel room for a couple of nights.

And it's not like the purchaser will be able to say "That price is too high - look, here are three others on E-bay for only $1,750,000"wink

Many years wait for one of those I think. (The 5002 that is).

The Opus V is a spectacular movement trapped in a fugly case. Shame really.

Completely love the workmanship and movement, but it is not a pretty piece, nor has it been made suitably comtemporary.

As an aside, am I alone in finding it odd that watches such as these, with a massively exclusive buying clientele, appear on the Bay???
