Well i stumbled across this part of the site a few days back, I was into my watches but didnt know a whole lot about them. Seems now like I have spent most of my internet/PH time browsing and reading within this section!

Anyhow, I've only gone and splashed out! Just bought a TAG Heuer Automatic Carrera Tachymetre Chronograph CV2014 from a work colleague of my Dad's who didnt wear it much anymore! Its lovely, just what i was after to be honest, on a bracelet.

Paid £800 for it, there's not a scratch on it, destroyed the £500 budget i set myself but ah well, it felt like a bargain?

Awesome! I really like the red hands.

Check out the aftermarket (not Tag) 'racing' straps in black with red stitching. They are only about £20 and would give the watch a totally different look for special occassions!

I was torn to be honest between strap and bracelet as strap does look excellent too - but in the end the decision was made for me and im very happy.

My Citizen came in the post this morning too - it must feel very neglected!

Always buy the bracelet as they are generally silly money to buy afterwards. Adding a couple of straps to your collection is a really smart move as a quick change totally changes the look of your watches and can revive something you are 'bored' of.

Any suggestions of good aftermarket ones, and where to buy?

Cheers. Quite like the Aviator Pro from that site. I stopped being lazy and searched a few threads and found this too. Think it would look good on a Speedmaster, and the Carrera for that matter.

rofl Prepare to be clawed in. Congrats, man. For a moment, I feared you were going to blow it all on a quartz Raymond Weil. smile

Just don't go to the photography forum, as they are very helpful (but at least the new camera takes great photos of the watches!)

Just sell the bracelet for the watch on ebay, I got £235 for mine. The leather strap suits the watch much better IMHO

It was a close call there for a minute!! I couldnt find one of these cheaper than a bag of sand anywhere so quite made up he agreed to 'humour' me at £800 and give me a bargain.

Im off to Cuba 7:30am, ive had the watch less than a day and ive got to go 2 weeks without it now.

Hi, I have the CV2010 which is basically the same without the red chrono hand. It has been a great watch, great timekeepr, great quality. I might be selling that one soon and i was hoping to get more than £800 for it so if yours is perfect i reckon that was a good price.

Concur, I think my Carrera CV2010 would look very nice on a perforated leather strap, might have a proper look at the strap shop when I have a little more time, and they have the tools needed to change them over as well. Upto now, the manager of my local Goldsmiths has been very nice and changed them for me, but have to learn how to do them myself.
