Fancy a new watch, don't need one but just fancy something new and would love a Panerai, only thing is without selling something else which I don't really fancy the funds aren't going to stretch to a new PAM00111 or even a 00112 frown
Don't really like the idea of a fake although I've just spotted one on fleebay that looks just too good to be true, but is anyone making watches in their own right that are in the style of Panerai but with the decimal point one step further to the left? scratchchin

The PRS-20, it even has the same movement as a Panerai ...

Not a bad start....just think the strap arrangement looks a little cheap and nasty, and the crown protector is a must. rotate

How about an Anonimo? Built by the old boys of Panerai.

I'm sure someone on here had a Fake Panerai . . . . sorry I mean 'homage' a while back. It was almost exactly the same as a Panerai but didn't say Panerai on the face.

Is that the kind of thing you want?

That sort of thing, to be honest I wouldn't rule out a good fake as a stop gap before funds allow the real thing, just never sure of the quality over the internet.
My watch man is always saying just how good the copys are getting these days, in some cases he's known his fellow watch repairers to use 'fake' bits to repair real watches when the bits are unavailable from the manufacturer.wink

Me I think. I bought it to see how I got on with the size/shape before stumping up 3k for a real one. Never worn it for more than an hour or so (and it saved me 3k as I just couldnt get on with it - bargain).

For the non branded 'homages' there are some guys in the US and the East making them. The name 'Davidsen' springs to mind. He can build a good quality rep with an auto or manual wind movement in the case metal and colours of your choice. For his details you need to go to the Watchuseek forums and do some digging. Costs a few hundred pounds if I recall correctly.

I know it doesn't have the side crown and guard, but for a grand or thereabouts the Anonimo's mentioned previously look like a good alternative.

I didn't think it was you Max. I remember seeing a photo of it on here. It was a Panerai without saying Panerai (or any other brand) on the face. It may even have had the same movement in it.

I think it was black faced on a leather strap.

Ah here it is. . . Andy CTR had one. . .

Just over £100 from ebay he says in the thread. . . TBH it's probably not much less than it would cost Panerai to make the original eta movement watch in the first place. hehe

There are loads of threads on watchuseek about Panerai-esque watches, it's a good place to look.

I bought a Marina Militare from Helenarou and was very pleased with both the price and the service, although I thought I was buying the watch from the USA but it turned out to be from Hong Kong.

It keeps pretty good time I think, but I only wear it with casuals so I don't wear it for days on end so I can't vouch for the accuracy.
Although its by far the biggest watch I've ever owned its the Titanium Destro so its light and I'm getting used to the size and love the face.

It has a glass back so you can see the movement, and all but the writing is a dead ringer for the movement in a PAM to my untrained heathen eyewink

I'm dead chuffed with it TBH and don't care if those in the know look down their nose at it because it cost 3 parts of sod all biggrin

I've seen that name on ebay, if you don't mind me asking was there any import duty sting on delivery or did it all go smoothly? scratchchin

I emailed them before I'd bought it and they kindly said it would be a present, if you know what I meanwink
