Siting here post-acquisition of the business I work for having done extremely well on the shares, my choice of watch purchased expanded . . . I'd had a share save tucked away for 3yrs with the intention of a nice watch solely and seperate from the others I held . .

Lot's of research, stalking in the background here, finally I have chosen which watch I want . .

4-6 weeks was the initial projection .. . now it seems it may be Sep/Oct before the watch get's here. That's after waiting 3yrs to make the purchase . .

I have confirmed my order today however, although I nearly bought something else at the airport this morning but knew it wasn't what I really wanted and I was just trying to satisfy my inability to wait . . .

But I've decided that I will wait, but it's killing me already. The money has gone to the savings account and here I sit, waiting to start my 'decent' watch collection and I've gotta go through the summer waiting . . .

I'm sure it'll be worth it in the end . . . What have you ordered ? I here you ask . . well . . that would be telling wouldn't it . . . It's available to view on the wrist check thread.

Perhaps the guessing will help me get through the next few days, weeks, months frown

I could probably get it abroad but I don't want to, prefer to trade with someone recommended and trusted . . .

I know how you feel. After taking ages on choosing my current car, I then spent an age going through the options ensuring it was exactly as I wanted - ordered it...

...only to wait 7 months for the bugger to turn up!

Not a Panerai . . .

Can you believe today as well that at a meeting I'm in there's a guy wearing the non chronograph version of my watch on a strap rather than a bracelet. Thought it was at the last meeting, but didn't have time to stop, had most of the day today to stare at his watch . . .

Had a great chat with him, loads in his collection and loves this one so much is struggling to top it for it's simplicity and style.

Confirmed that I had made the right choices . . . it looked fantastically understated.

Argos delivery times can be a little poor, but I don't believe they'd be that bad on a watch... what about Ratners?!

Have you tried Watches of Switzerland on Oxford St? I'm pretty sure they had one in the window? Or maybe the Jewellers on Marylebone High Street (W1) - I think they had one as well?

I didnt think it was that hard to find to be honest - or am I missing something?

Depends on what price they want to trade at and the high street isn't the best place for that.

There is a back order for over 90 pieces for the UK currently, so discounting in window sales isn't happening.

I've got mine at a price I'm happy with and will have to wait.

Just to torment you (and getting my own back for you going to the rugby at the weekend while I had to listen to it on the radio)

There is a guy who comes to the office I'm working in currently who has the non chrono version of the watch you've ordered.

Bloody lovely and serious quality.

Got a colleague with one as well which is tough when you're waiting for your own one to turn up. Then a mate tells me he just picked up an Aquatimer Chrono in Singapore as well to wave under my nose this weekend !

Rugby ws excellent, lunch before the game very good and the free beer all day in a box right behind the North Stand uprights was a great view as well !

Got myself a 3717-01 April having placed the order at a jewellers in Kent. Took 3 months for the watch to make into the store. Saved a bit as my father had bought the non-chrono Pilot's watch from them earlier.

Got it from these guys:

Well, I'm wearing that particular watch today and as regards availability I bought it in Brent Cross. They had had it in the window for quite some months and a discount was quite easy to negotiate.
