Value of top end watches
Discussion
As mentioned in another thread, I had a play with a Lange Datograph recently and was completely blown away by it.
What's your veiw on watches of this type Lange's, Patek's, Vacheron's etc...
Mine is that it has to be something that you covet, enjoy and have a very personal relationship with, not to try and prove to others how flash you are (not my style anyway), as I'm guessing that your average man in the street wouldn't recognise the brand let alone understand why peices like this exist.
I was talking to the missus about it last night and she said that its my money and can do what I like with it. She's a one off I can tell you. I can't justify dropping $50k on a watch but actually seeing the watch up close and feeling, touching and experiencing it, I now have a rather naughty itch that I may have to scratch.
I was blown away by the sheer quality of the watch, the engineering, skill and talent that went into its design, construction and execution.
Damn it!

That's what got me when I compared an IWC with a Longines. Not quite in the Patek league but the difference in engineering quality was plain to see. Even my wife said "You've got to buy the IWC....." so I did. When you consider how much time and effort must go into making them, they really are somethign special.Oooh for a Calatrava...........one day.......

As they say, you never own a Patek, just look after it for the next generation. I shall have one one day![quote]
Hehe - your Dad has one?
Sorry
Wish my dad had one
