I've seen a few of these on clients and prefer the look of these to the submariner. I was wondering whether the bezel can be changed red/black to black....how easy it it to do this?

The bezel insert options on the 16710 GMT are;

Black
Black/Scarlet
Blue/Red

The bezels are interchangeable by a watchmaker. You have to remove the bezel assembly, and the insert pushes out. Reverse the procedure with the replacement.

Easy? If you are a watchmaker with the correct tools it's a 30 second job. I wouldn't bother doing it myself.

Hope this helps.

thanks for that Dominic.

I really like the GMT 2 (16710) with the black bezel. I understand that this is now an older model...How much do these retail for second hand? and where can I get hold of an unused example? ...any ideas?

The 16710 is now discontinued, replaced by the 116710LN. The values of 16710 have increased over the last couple of months to c£2000 for a good used example. If you are after a 'new' unsold piece, you'll need to have a good look around as most have sold through by now....

I was about to trade in my GMT II Rolex, if your interested.
It has the blue and red bezel; but as someone pointed out its easy to swap them, email me if your interested mate.
