Tag Monaco Disaster
Discussion
Hi all
Am after a bit of advice.
Basically, somehow the crown of my Tag Heuer Monaco seems to have "snapped" off
The watch has now stopped.
I have had it for about 6 months, so it is still covered under warranty - but I was wondering if anyone knew if:
1) The repair would be covered under warranty
2) If not - any idea how much it would cost to replace?
Any advice / help would be gratefully received
Thanks

Take it straight to your dealer for assessment. They will say if it's a warranty job or how much it will cost. If it's a lot - did you take out any insurance?
When I bought mine, I paid for insurance that covers everything regardless. Glad I did, now I hear your tale!

I had the same problem with my IWC aquatimer. I took it to my dealer and explained how it happened - just under normal winding conditions and they sent it off to be fixed. As it wasn't misused then it was covered by warranty.
Unless you have done something drastic to yours, it should also be covered and fixed for free.
Good luck

I took it to the dealer yesterday - they said it would have to be sent to Tag for assessment - and I might not see it until the end of June
They couldn't tell me if it would be covered, but did suggest that if Tag opened it up to work out what happened they would more than likely service it as well - would I be charged for this?
I have had the watch since the end of November 2007 - so i would be extremely surprised if i needed a service
The watch was a present from my wife, so there is no specific insurance on it, so i can getting more and more worried as to the total cost of fixing it (especially if the service is carried out)
I haven't worked out how it happened - my only hypothesis is that it caught on the edge of my jeans pocket when I was fishing for keys, or change ( I wear it on my right wrist, so the crown would be facing "up" if that makes sense)
I cant see Tag finding a manufacturing flaw....

My manual carrera went to Tag uk (duvalls) for a regular service, and replacement glass.
Came back 12 weeks later, not running correctly.
Sent it back.
Another month
Came back with a broken strap and with the watch and the chronograph not running or resetting correctly.
Another 7 weeks
Came back working and with a brand new strap free of charge - FINALLY.
Servicing on mine was £180 IIRC. But as you say, if it was only bought in November, then it is unlikely to need one.
Kick up a fuss about it.
