Been debating on getting an Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch for a while now, but having read this forum a few times, am now considering a Sinn...

What may prove best choice for future value/desirability (opinions I know! rather than fortune tellers!)

My budget is around £1k which I've seen plenty used Omega Moonwatches at...

Any opinions appreciated...

Sinn, everytime IMO - Omegas are two a penny and a Sinn is far more durable than a speedy. Give me a
nice Flieger anyday (and you won't have to wind the fecker everyday)

Asked my self the same question, and I went down the Sinn route, I have no regrets at all, Sinn quality is on par with omega, at a better price.

already planning my second and third Sinn,

(I really like omega's too, but there is no contest)

I'm interested in a Sinn too.

Which model did you buy?

So my next question!! Which Sinn?

Had a quick look on Chronomaster...so many and spoilt for choice...

Once I do pick I will post the winner here!

Current options I like the look of are:-

Sinn Flieger 857 UTC Automatic Pilots Watch
Sinn Flieger 757
Sinn Flieger 657 Automatic Pilots Watch
Sinn Flieger 756 UTC DIAPAL – Leather Strap
Sinn Flieger 756 UTC
Sinn Flieger 856 UTC Automatic Pilots Watch
Sinn 103 A Sa Automatic Chronograph
Sinn Flieger 356 Flieger UTC Automatic Pilots Chronograph

Phew.....absolutely gorgeous, would never have looked at the above watches but for reading this forum, after spending all my time deciding on an Omega, the above really have thrown a spanner in the works!

I had a 103 AR Ti.

One of the few watches I regret selling.

COSC certified, 200M. Does everything you need. Can be found under the 1K budget.

I've just bought a U1, it should be with me soon. The 356 Flieger is a classic design too similar to my O&W Defender though so that would be out for me.
856 UTC looks fantastic and a different strap completely transforms the look of the watch. I would have one but for the lack of coninuous seconds hands.

The U1, is that the oil filled waterproof one?

If so, what a watch. That is on my wishlist now.

I'd just like Sinn to make a 556 but at 42mm. My eyesight is now at a stage where I need a big watch if I am to read it without glasses and the moment they bring one out at that size I'll be buying. The other watch I love is the IWC Antoine St. Exupery (not chrono) but as a limited edition it is rare as hen's teeth. For me, Sinn beats Omega hands down, especially at the price. Rarer too.

They've got a few in their range that have the 'indestructable' silicone-filled case now I think - along with antimagnetic cases and genuine military connections (eat that, Rolex Milgauss wink )

I love Sinn, they are superb value for money but aren't just another cheaper IWC, they have their own style and innovations and are quite happy to follow their own path. My 356 II with the guilloché copper face is a beautiful looking watch, but completely unexpected - it's the 356 Flieger which you'd expect in black and white like all the other pilot's watches, but they've bunged on a crazy face and top quality brown leather strap with deployant buckle... all for around £700. Marvellous...

Another Sinn fan here. My 856 - which happens to be my most accurate watch, over 7 days it was within 1 second of my time-synch'd laptop:

The tegimented cases (like the 856) are also seriously tough.

tertuis - nice watch & that's amazing accuracy.

Not got a Sinn yet, but have a couple on my wish list.

I do like some Omega's and have an old De Ville dress watch in my collection, but they don't have that many models I crave right now.

The UX is the watch you speak of. Filled with a Teflon oil (previously silicone), its quartz, COSC-certified movement is water resistant to 5000m while the case is rated to 12,000m (deeper than the deepest point on Earth). Made from submarine steel, chosen for its antimagnetic and saltwater resistant properties, its besel is tegimented to 1500 Vickers, making it over five times tougher than regular steel. The final touches are a 7 year battery, temperature resistance down to approx. -20C and the fact that it is the official watch of the German GSG9 Special Forces cool

Ive just bought a Sinn U2 for a daily wearer to replace the Omega PO I was using before hand. I still have the PO, but it is becoming far too common, even in the South West!! The Sinn is unique, and far better suited to my needs.

Go for it, be a bit different!!

Is it me or do some Sinn's look a bit derivative.

Some of the fliers look like IWC copies.

Some of the Chronographs also look suspiciously like Brietling Navigators.

They might be rarer than an Omega but are they that special?

The reason they look like Navitimers is because they are ... when the original Breitling company went bust in 1979 the rights to manufacture the 806 (Navitimer) were sold to Sinn and O&W.

Re. IWC the current owner of Sinn, used to be at IWC and I think (though can't confirm where I heard it so may be mis-remembering) that Sinn did some design work for IWC.

And yes they are pretty special in my view ... wink

That Sinn 856 is stunning - might have to be my next purchase.
