Hi there,
I am new to this all, love nice watches and am looking for a new one.

So far I have a Omega Speedmaster, Breitling New PLuton, Raymond Weil Parcival, Movado Museum Watch, and anothe Raymond Weil and a Rodania ABS.

My first choice was a Porsche design Limited edition , or a Breitling Navitimer. But reading a few threads here make me wonder if they are the best choice. I would prefer a mechanical watch, automatic. I know Zenith has automatics and so has JLC, but which other ones should Iook at. THanks for your help Must admit I do not like the Rolexes.

Thanks for your help
Ronny

As someone once said "The best watch in the World is the one on your wrist" - if you like a watch, and you want it, then don't be swayed by what other people say as they are very subjective things. I have a 50th Anniversary Navitimer and I absolutely love it, one of my favourite watches though i can see how it won't be to everyone's taste.

I agree, buy what pleases you. I was always a Breitling man for years since it is a family story; my father took one off a Luftwaffe navigator when he parachuted down in the war and so I always liked them. Now I love IWC models. The world is your oyster!

Wow, great story! You still have it? I always love it watching Antiques Roadshow when someone brings out some pristine German piece of amazing glassware, or quality mechanical toys: "Oh, yeah- its my Dads- I dunno where he got it, its just always been around". Yeah, right! Must've been bargains a plenty imediately post-war.

Then there are the SS officer's sword and decoration plus his dagger here my Dad must have picked up post war. I even have an iron cross in its original presentation envelope. I dunno, what with the Lalique bonnet mascots and all plus the porcelain I ought someday to get someone in to value it all I guess. To me though all the pieces are just memories and family pieces.

Sorry to butt in on this one but Lalique mascots I adore and would love one - true art in every sense.

Much envy yes
