Just joined the forum after reading some past posts and interested by the divided opinions on the Rolex brand, FWIW, i like 'em!
Due to age and failing eyesight, my much loved Daytona is becoming impossible to read without specs, which is not always convenient at a glance. So, i bought a GMT which is better of course and with a date facility also. It's always bugged me why the Daytona never had this facility.
Ultimately as i'm not a badge snob(imo)i've decided to seek out a 'poor mans Daytona' and buy a Tudor Prince Chrono, best of all worlds! Therefore i'm seeking a model with the black inlay bezel,79160,79260,79170,79270. As long as it can be refurbished to 100%, condition is unimportant though price related of course.
Anyone got or know of one for sale? NOS would be excellent if possible.

I've been through the same ageing process so fully understand. However, after much deliberation not to gainsay the tremendous help one gets here, I bought the IWC 42mm Spitfire chrono and find it very easy to read, especially at night. Also it has received approving comments due to its understated nature. Perhaps worth a look?

I bought mine in the Brent Cross shopping centre for £2,800 last October. It took a while to get the price down but the finally conceded defeat when I got up to leave. I've looked on the internet but can't find it any cheaper at the moment so that would be about the price I guess. Incidentally, I prefer the black face since it is much easier to read with my old eyes than the white face - the hands stand out more. I concede that the date I can't read without glasses but then the date we mostly know - it is the time we wear a watch for. If they did a simple watch without chrono at the same size I'd have bought it, but the Spitfire XVI is 39mm and a bit small. The other thought might be Bell & Ross which is 42mm and a simple watch but no steel bracelet available. On that subject the IWC is much cheaper with a leather strap if it pleases you more. I guess on a cheaper note there is Sinn but again the choice is only about 39mm and I need the 42mm to read it easily at 62 years old! I am now looking for an IWC Antoine St. Exupery which is 42mm and so simple but sadly, as a limited edition, unfindable!
