Dubai? - got mine last month and I think the guy said there's around 5 in the country at the mo.
Asterix, this is yours.....A classic. The OP is refering to this I think...The new 3900m Sea Dweller Deep Sea, launched last week in Basel.
Looks great! In fact it looks fabulous - unfortunately would look to big in my wrist at 43mm.

my local place has quoted next year at the earliest for one of these - anyone have any ideas for getting one sooner?
You've got to hit the phones and try your luck, I think next year is a realistic delivery. A friend called his local AD, where he is a regular client to order the new SeaDweller on the morning of the launch. It was 10.30am, he was 10th on the list already....Dominic H said:

I might have to have a look around for something to keep me going until then...
Actualy - now that I've had more of a look at it - I'm not convinced.
It looks lovely in the side profile pic above but the dial has War & Peace written (so does the previous to be fair) on it and I think the rehaut ingraving is, to be frank, more footballer than working diver. However, the clasp is cool.
I'm actualy pleased that I got mine when I did - far more classic and discreet - and at least 1K cheaper to boot!

4 kilometres down is awfully deep sea.
What next from Rolex? A watch certified by the Jovian Institute of Chronometers to be atmosphere-proof down to 100,000 kilometres into the atmosphere of Jupiter?
Now *that* would be a challenge to the watchmaking elves at Rolex.
(apologies to any Sea Dweller owners that actually *do* dive to kilometre depths, but I bet that there aren't any on here)

asked at two rolex ADs and both said that they weren't taking orders. Will have to wait until september when it comes out. The september date i thought was fairly accurate because i asked a chopard dealer when their basel watches come out and they gave around the same time. Shame all the dealers i normally buy from all close down!!

You won't find any. Commercial divers are limited to 300m-ish and there aren't really any areas where these depths are worked by Sat divers except real 1-off's. Most of the North Sea is about 160m max apart from the Norweigan trench but that was only used for deep dive trials many years ago. I worked with some of those guys years back and they are hardy beasts!!What next from Rolex? Current oil finds are 1000m+ and that's only ROV territory.
