The current daily driver is an IWC Spitfire chrono I bought last year and I do love it. However, I have a yearning for something simpler but not too small. The Spitfire is 42mm but the non chrono smaller or else I'd get that. So, here's the requirements:-

42/44mm (no bigger please)
Sapphire chrystal glass and black face
Automatic
Steel bracelet
Luminous
Reasonably waterproof(to the bottom of the pool/bath anyway)

I love Sinn but they don't seem to have something in their range. Price isn't too important - it can be £30 to £3,000 but I just want something simple, not a divers oversize bling watch like the Navitimer Heritage (46mm) for example. Plain and simple are the watchwords. Over to you guys!

Pretty obvious I realise this, and I am sure some of the more knowledgeable people on here will have some more unusual suggestions, but how about this -

If you're serious about the £30 end of the spectrum, then how about a Swiss Railways design. www.mondaine.com

Some good suggestions coming in, but this is the kind of style I am looking for to give you all a clue:-

Just that this is 38mm and I need a bigger face due to long sight.

Might be a little large, but I have had a thing for this since it was launched a little while ago -

Is this what you meant by the Navitimer Hertige??

Love the bracelet, but at 46mm it is a tad large for my scrawny wrist and anyway I have a couple of Breitlings in the cupboard anyway. Thanks though.

I bought a Rolex non-date Sub to supplement my 42mm Spitfire Chrono...

Lovely watch and I now wear it everyday - Case doesn't appear to catch on anything/everything like the Spit does, so I guess I do notice the smaller size as a benefit...

Can't go wrong really...

You need a diver really if you are going to swim in it, I assume a Sinn 656 is too small so how about:

1. IWC Aquatimer; or
2. Anonimo Millimetri; or
3. Blancpain 50 Fathoms

oops redface

i missed most of your requirements

42/44mm (no bigger please) * no idea what size that IWC is, sorry
Sapphire crystal glass and black face *no idea
Automatic * think so
Steel bracelet *don't know if you can get one
Luminous *not sure
Reasonably waterproof(to the bottom of the pool/bath anyway) *not sure

so, in summary, i suggest a watch that has no relation to your requirements - very sorry boxedin

i still ove it though biggrin

Spydie, I think that the most beautiful watch in the world but it is just a tad too small sadly. I have the chrono version with steel bracelet which is 42mm and about right. However, I think I have fallen in love with this one but don't know yet if a steel bracelet can be fitted. It is on the limit I can wear at my puny size but oh I do love it! Tertius, I knew you'd come up with good ideas too and I love the Sinn 656 but again a tad small with my long sight. I think my trouble would be in finding one of the A St Exupery's too since it is a limited edition.
