just bought this:

so what do you experts think?

As I know nothing about watches I'd appreciate any honest opinions, good or bad.

Bought 'cos after having not worn or even owned a watch for years & years, I had an itch to have something classic on my wrist. hope I haven't fooked up.

After a bit of googling, it appears to have retailed in the late 70's/ early 80's at £149.50.

my ebay bid plus carriage is £150. it looks I have paid a whopping 50p over the odds. I am gutted.

(aithough £149.50 in 1980 is about tuppence ha'penny now i suppose)

Hardly, a pint of milk in 1979 was 15p, so at today's prices you'd be looking at about £400.
£150 over 28 years with 6% interest would be about £750 now

Doesn't really float my boat, but you can't grumble at an Omega auto for a ton and a half.

Forget about what anyone else thinks, if you like it then you haven't "fooked up".

Everyone ready to go off topic...?

Food prices have decreased a helluva lot in real terms over the years. For instance, when I first started doing my own shopping in 1988/89 a can of red kidney beans was 49p. Don't know how I remember that but there you go. Now they are about 20 - 25pence? milk prices will have been similarly depressed.

Try the same equation with: Beer. petrol. fags. houses. cars (a Jag XJS V12 was about £14k in 1980) and you will get a different result.

I guess if my dad had told me he had spent £150 on a new watch, back then, I'd have been gobsmacked. And my mum would've killed him!

I admit I know little about watches, never looked deeper than "Watches of Switzerland"s window, but I'm a sucker for a decent brand, (don't get me wrong I'd buy a Hugo Boss suit, but not a Hugo Boss watch) and liked the look of this one, (not into divers watches, partly cos I have skinny wrists, but mainly cos I don't do diving, although it appears I am in the minority on these pages in that respect - apparently Malta is very good for that kind of thing) and (stay with me) this has a kind of early 80's cool about it for me, like a Citroen CX estate.
