Red Sub Back From Rolex UK!!!!!!
Discussion
Hi all,
It's been a while since I last posted, been eagerly awaiting the call from Rolex UK telling me my Red Sub service was completed. I got the call on Friday and travelled to London yesterday and I'm sooooo impressed with the results.
Watch had stopped around 3 months ago, meaning it reallly needed looking at, turns out a screw had become lodged in the hairspring? Other parts replaced were an oscillating weight because it was cracked and the bracelet and plastic crystal. I have kept the old original 93150 bracelet and the old crystal for histories sake. Rolex tell me it's the watchs first service since 1994!
The bracelet was fairly worn and Rolex could have refurbed but the "clasp horns were cracking" and they would give no guarentee on the bracelet hence why I asked for new bracelet on understanding I could keep original.
The case was given a sympathetic polish and refurb and all other original parts were retained (face, hands, datewheel etc.)
I am extremely pleased with the end result and now have a 34 year old rolex with a years guarentee. It's hard to believe. For those interested total cost of all work £750.36. It's a bargain!!!!!!!!
I've attached a few pictures of the new improved red sub and have it proudly on my wrist at moment.

I believe the service was good value. The bracelet cost was £325 and I got the original back which was fairly worn. Not cheap perhaps but cheap insurance that the watch stays on my wrist I would say. Small surcharge due to age of watch and rest of cost was parts, labour and re-finishing costs.
I specifically asked for the bezel not to be changed unles they could provide a NOS vintage 1680 bezel with Tritium pearl. They could not, so the original stayed, although they did fit a luminova pearl which I didn't ask for!!!! However should any of you guys know where I can find or purchase such a spare part or even a better used vintage bezel than currently fitted please let me know. Any information gratefully received.
The before and after condition of the watch is chalk and cheese furthermore the watch had actually stopped dead so needed to be overhauled anyway. Theres a limited to zero choice of watchmakers etc up in my neck of the woods so Rolex UK was best option.
To put it fully into perspective the purchase cost and service cost combined cost me roughly the price of a brand new 16610 submariner. I don't believe anyone can argue with that kinda arithmetic.
