What the titles says really.
When it first started there were only about five of us arguing about which speedmaster professionals were actually worn on the moon. We sat here hoping someone (usually tertius) would buy an interesting new watch so we could all talk about it.
Now there are loads of threads about loads of different watches. I particularly enjoy people's imaginative stealthy "Does anyone want to buy my watch" posts or the "what do you think of this watch" posts before someone buys a watch. (the after purchase ones I usually keep quiet if I don't like it).
I suppose the ones I like least are from those who just rock up and say which watch shall I buy for £200 (with no other information about type or look). Not because I can't be arsed suggesting the same stuff time and time again but because they usually don't bother to reply or post pictures of what they actually went for in the end.
I also am interested to see how different peoples tastes are and why they like different watches. It's such a personal thing.

I have learned a lot since I joined PH. Would have never known about MTM or Luminox watches, and yes I have both a Tag Heuer Carrera and an Omega Seamaster. I do however have a watch which I think is excellent value for money - that is an Oceanus.
These are made by Casio and I bought it in Canada when on holiday last year. It is made of titanium, solar powered, adjusted automatically by the atomic clock (only works though in the US and Japan) perpetual calendar, water resistant to 200ft, has secondary time zone dial (which can be adjusted to anyone of 27 places around the world) and an alarm.
On my wishlist now is a Rolex Sea Dweller, a Brietling Skyracer and a IWC (not yet decided on which though). Will continue to support and contribute to this forum, even when I have moved across the pond to Canada

Without this forum I would never have acquired my IWC Spitfire chrono which I didn't even know existed. . I regret now though going for the chrono - I prefer the simple look of the straight Spitfire XVI. Not to worry though! On an interesting note, do you sell your watches over time? I've not sold and I suppose never will although the family have profited from a couple over the years. Mostly now I look at two forums here - yesterdays heroes and this one, that's all.

I do - I buy and sell all the time. Though buys seem to outweigh sells somehow ... I like my watches, although i have to admit that generally there is of little interest to me on this forum. i'm not a great fan of modern watches, i much prefer older stuff from the 50's/60's.
which i find quite ironic considering the ammount of watch companies that are re-issueing old designs!

This is agreat forum and one I've started to use regularly.
I think that 'looking past Tag' is a little cruel.
A Tag was my first 'proper' watch and has not only led on to others but also led to a increase in my interest and subsequent knowledge - not everyone can step straight to something cool but obscure as, as a general rule, watches are one of the more expensive bits of kit/hobbies to have.
