So, going on from this thread - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... - I am now the lucky owner of this bit of kit smile

We had a good look at the Rolex Submariner and Sea Dweller, Omega Speedmaster, IWC, Panerai and a number of others. The simple fact is that the two Rolex watches were the ones that felt the most bullet proof and fitted my wrist the best.

It then came down to the date feature - I must have this on a watch (don't ask why but I always reference the watch for this a million times a day) - and I prefered the fact that the Sea Dweller didn't have the magnifying bubble - looked cleaner. Something else I really appreciate is the simple design and the rigours it has been engineered for. If it can last as a deep divers watch then it should cope with everything I ever throw at it and then some.

It is a stunning bit of kit when you get to handle it and wear it - feels like it would get through a nuclear explosion and not break a sweat or miss a beat.

I'm very happy.

Welldone, great choice, as that is both a special and stunning watch.

Nice one.

I would be a very happy man also if my good lady presented me with one of those.

I have not really looked at Rolex in the past as always thought they were a little bling, but looking at that magnificant piece of kit, that might just have to go onto my wishlist.

Will be heading into Nottingham this afternoon, so might see if I can break away from Mrs Bond to go and have a look at Cope's and Berry's to see if they have one.

You are indeed a very lucky man. Enjoy

"Some say, there are only two things known to man that have the ability to withstand a direct nuclear explosion. The humble cockroach, and the Rolex Seadweller.
Quite literally, on that bombshell...Goodnight!"

[Clarkson introducing the Stig mode OFF]

Joking aside, it's my favourite Rolex. I've had a few over the years, they are very.very tough. It's my birthday next week, I'll probably get socks........

I'm with you Bond - I'd never really looked at Rolex before either but it is undeniable that they met my needs the best (and it does look and feel great).

Also smile I pulled the trigger on the ring this morning after lots of haggling, research and stuff and that'll be ready by Wednesday - looks like I'll be engaged by the weekend smile

I love how simple that looks. That could be taken negatively, but I mean it in the same way that I think the DB9 looks simple alongside the DBS. wink

I know exactly what you mean. Simple, classic and understated.
