Just back from my first visit.
What can I say, but an excellent first experience.

1. Took a 1988 Datejust up, this wasn't my main reason for the visit, but as I was going I took it along. When I was 20 I scratched the glass/plastic of the watch, I thought it had a new replacement front, but today it was confirmed to be original, and they said the watch was a nice example of an 'older' watch. The chassis was in excellent condition.

2. Mrs Wish's SS Yacht Master has always gained time since its purchase new in October 2007. The shop where happy to send it to Rolex for me, but as I needed mine serviced I thought I would hold on until today. Set the watch up and gave it a little clean, Job done !!!

3. The main reason for my visit. Service time on my SS Yacht Master. I thought I was going mad, the watch has always gained time one month and lost time another, I had knocked the watch when it was first new, and it had marked the case of the watch. As soon as he saw the mark he knew the reason for the time and loss ... The watch was left with them and its got a turn around time of anywhere between 8 and 10 weeks.

Its been gone 2hrs and I miss it already .....

Anyway that's my first experience of Rolex Watch Service, and its a bloody good one !

I've only taken mine for a service once, at a reading based rolex dealers about 10 years back. It was a fairly good service offered, and have only recently realised that the valuations can change massively over time (like an order of 10 times).

Doubt I'll take it back for a service though - it still ticks away nicely, doesn't necessarily tell the best of time in the world (my naff clear swatch perpetual is probably more accurate), but it feels like an ancient work of art when on the wrist. I don't even begin to want it changed in any way. Its been working fine for what must be over 50 years now, no sense in having anything inside touched at all.

When the Yachtmaster comes back, you won't recognise it. Rolex do a fantastic job of re-finishing the case bracelet..
Sounds like a good visit! Nice lunch in Bexley Village?

No Lunch, straight home again.
Its going to be the longest 8 - 10 weeks of my life.
I miss the weight of it on my arm, hence why I never got on with the Daytona.

Still fancy the LV but I bet as soon as its on the wrist it wont feel as nice.....

What time is it ?? weeping

Am I missing something here? They're going to take 8 to 10 weeks to service your watch and that's 'bloody good' confused What the hell would be bad service - a year? Not to mention the fact that you haven't got it back yet - my Explorer II has never been the same since it's mainspring went and Rolex worked their magic on it. Now it won't last more than 12 hours off my wrist. My personal opinion of Rolex servicing - scandalously bad.

Ive used the Bexley service centre a few times over the last 12 years or so I have owned Rolex watches and can say that I have never been anything but delighted-most notably when I bought a gold Yachtmaster from my dad who had worn it everyday for a few years and been a bit careless with it,there were scratches and scuffs all over so I sent it for service and it came back like brand new.

The only downside is the long time it takes to do the servicing esp around the christmas period.

what sort of price are they looking at for a service on a sea dweller? I guess I'll not be sending mine in unless something goes wrong but always nice to know.

Put my wifes YM in via Ernest Jones

£220 for the service, got a call the other day from them saying the service centre had called saying the outer dial was quite badly scratched and they suggested changing it at a cost of £700, so all in for £920

Fooking ell !!!!

Decided to decline on the dial change :-)

Yes it is extra cost but the YM bezel is an intricate piece(ie it takes a lot of expertise and time to refurbish properly) and I took the view that £70 extra to make the watch perfect was a price worth paying. When I saw the finished article I was glad I paid the extra.

Absolutely right, the extra £70 or so is well worth it. The watch doesn't look finished without the bezel re-furb.....

I agree, But my bezel is in A1 condition.

I wouldnt want a referb, It would have to be new. (silly I know) As I would want my old one back.

Its not a watch you know ... It an old friend nuts I couldnt leave part of it behind.
