Hi,

Can anyone advise?

Can I claim the tax back on a watch brought in Switzerland as its not in the EU? And is it cheaper to buy a swiss made watch in Switzerland?

Thanks

IIRC only on departure from Switzerland and with it in "as new/unworn condition".

I am far from convinced watches are cheaper there.

Try smwatches.com.

I'm going back 15 years now, I bought a TAG for £230 equivalent when it was £330 in the UK a considerable saving I think you will agree. I Sold it 6 years later for £280 having cost me £60 for a new battery.

You can claim the tax back simply by handing in a form at the airport. Its then credited back to your credit card some time later. Whether it is still worth it I don't know. Possibly worth ringing up a few jewelers in Switzerland and asking the list price. Compare that against the UK list price and the possibility of a UK 10% discount.

You could plan ahead and just get a cheapo day return flight to Geneva/zurich and take it from there
