A limited edition of the 956 which is not far off £2,500 even in the USA!

Is it worth it just for the name on it do you think?

Same here. Get a sinn or a corvette but why do people want corvette written on their watch?

As a Corvette owner of some taste IMHO (I like them only pre-1972 with Chrome bumpers) AND a blossoming watch enthusiast, may I say that this is just the worst kind of tat imaginable!!

I have no idea why anyone would want one of these but then there is a huge industry in the states for all kinds of corvette stuff. Some of it is not as bad as this. I especially like the gold plated rolex datejust wannabee corvette watches and baby grows with corvette on them. yuck

Actually quite like the watch, just would not want all the rest of the stuff. At least the words Corvette are just on the back with the (relativly) discreet logo on the front.

You can get the watch without the corvette logo for £1495 with strap or £1695 with bracelet.

or pay £2500 for a corvette one. The extra bracelet is worth £250ish and a strap £75

That is a fair point, I like the watch itself, just without the logos. I mean, come on, it's just pointless. Like anyone who has Ferrari on their t shirt or baseball cap...you just know they dont't have the car. And if they do, they need to get a life. Only exception to this maybe is the JLC Amvox which are rather tasty....but based on an old design (dial that is). I'm undecided on panerai ferrari but on balance let me ask you this....would you drive a car that was a Sinn special edition ? No thought not. SO why a watch?

I don't think its quite that simple ...

(And in the interests of full disclosure I will admit that I have recently bought a watch with an automotive tie-in ... I won't tell you what just yet ... wink)

Firstly I would ask, do I actually like the watch as it is with the branding? A crucial point for me would be the intrusiveness/otherwise of the markings.

Secondly I would ask is the same watch available without the tie-in/branding/whatever - in the case of the 956 it is and assuming I liked it as much this would definitely push me towards the vanilla version? If its not of course ...

Thirdly I would ask am I bothered by the branding/tie-in? Disregarding the actual appearance but the association itself.

Finally I might be swayed if the branding had some relevance for me. In this example if I liked Sinn (which I do) and I happened to own a Corvette (which I don't) I could see that it might be tempting.

(As an aside here surely Porsche would be more appropriate for a watch with this particular model number ... biggrin)

The ONLY watch/automotive tie-in I like is the Girard Perregaux F1 200. hehe

That's a nice watch and very subtle indeed. Yes sir.

I am with Tertius here it is a matter of personal taste, it appears that Captain Chaos and I share the same taste in Corvette's but not for having a small Corvette logo on a watch.
However I waould also agree that having the same watch available at a significantly reduced price without said logo would make a difference to me also.

BTW Cap'n I think that most shirts with a Corvette logo on them are worn by Corvette ownerswink
