I want to go with one of these but can't decide between the 2 straps, can an additional £500 be justified on a metal strap??

What's the general thoughts of you guys, I'm stuck!!

Thought the same until I tried on both, the watch did not look right to me on a leather strap so went with the metal.

can't you buy the one on the bracelet and change it over to a leather strap form time to time.

Buy the leather and I guarantee that you will be back buying the steel bracelet within 3 weeks. I know I did just that! You should get the steel for less than £500 nearer £460, especially since they are saving over the leather. Oh and you may have missed the best Navitimer add-on, 18k gold bezel; talk about a finishing touch.

cheers guys, my initial thoughts were 100% leather, but now i'm leaning towards the metal, I'm going to try them both on at the weekend.

I was thinking they may do a deal and throw in a spare leather strap if i go with the metal, that way I have a choice of both.

Do most authorized dealers hold spare strap stock?

Get the bracelet then a good quality aftermarket leather and switch them over when you feel the need.

I have a montbrilliant datora with a steel strap which is great and really comfortable, however I am buying the black calf leather one so I can chop and change a bit. the steel is an expensive option but I suppose it depends on what you are using the watch for.

Sometimes the steel strap can look a little bit flashy if your wearing smart clothe or a suit and as such I think the leather may soften it for different scenarios.

I cant imagine leather would be as comfortable as steel and obviously the steel will last longer. but not 5 x longer which is the price multiple.

Your choice at the end of the day.

Enjoy!

I think a Navitimer on a leather strap is about as close to perfection as you can get BUT I believe a bracelet from Breitling is around the £700 mark (don't quote me on that!) whereas a leather strap is around £80 - makes more sense to buy it on the bracelet and then just buy yourself a strap as it works out cheaper than doing it the other way around and gives you the choice.

hehe good luck.

The Breitling Navitimer bracelet is one of the best made bracelets around, the Breitling leather straps don't last that long and you'll be changing it frequently.

It's up to you what you think looks best.

They are two different watches though? Or are you just asking about the straps?

Personally for me, the leather one.

I was wondering about that. The OP does know that either can have a bracelet or strap?

yes, sorry the pictures were to show the strap only, looking at the current Navitimer which I belive is the one with the white numerics.

What i'm hoping for is to do a deal whereby I purchase the navitimer with steel bracelet, but see if they can throw the leather strap into the deal as well, we'll see, it apprears as though they have a fair markup to play with (maybe 10-20%).

Leather!!! But then again buy the bracelet as it will be cheaper to swap the bracelet for leather then the other way round, should you wish. That's what I did with my Omega Planet Ocean anyway!!!

My Serie Speciale Navitimer came with the Pilot bracelet, its very very comfy and fits great.....

but when i fitted a new black calf (genuine Breitling) tang strap, it made a big difference to what it looked like. I've since swapped the straps around and I keep going back to the black leather.

The Pilot band just seems...boring?! Plus, with those Navis, the case and (steel) band will be highly polished...are you sure you want that?
