I have a Breitling Crosswind Special. Purchased it new in 2000.
Can anyone advise on a couple of things please.

Roughly what is that model worth in today's market?
Is it worth holding on to, with the thought that it might become "collectable"?

I love the watch but never wear it any more.
Appreciate any help you can give.

What does it look like - lots of different kinds.

Not too many around from what I could see, and prices running from £1250 to £2500. Apparently it's one of the more popular models....

Forgot to mention which it is...

Not sure how to post image on forum but the ref number is A44355, build date is week 45, 2000.
It's on its original Pilot bracelet and I have the box, manuals and all paperwork.

Can't find one for sale anywhere, that's why I'm asking for advice.

Thanks!

This one?

RRP £3200

One on eBay starting at £1995, no bids thus far, from a jewellers.

So I'd suggest £1800 private, or maybe more with a trade-in?

It's not that one, Don.

I have a url link to the same watch:

http://www.breitlingsource.com/watch_details/Windr...

It's this model but mine has the white dial.

Depends on the condition of the watch really. I can't imagine it was much more than £2k new.

Even if it's in very good condition I think anyting over £1000 would be reasonable.

That Crosswind Specials aren't really likely to appreciate, they weren't that 'special' as the name would suggest.

I sold my PSG Crosswind Racing with UTC for about 50% of the retail after owning it for 3 years, I had to wait four months to sell it for that amount.

Depends on the condition as I say - 50% seems to be a reasonable guide and that's what I use if I'm looking for a used item. My watchmaker doesn't like paying more than 40% unless it's something quite special.

All just my opinion

Thanks for the reply. It was £2525 back in 2000 when I bought it. It's still in great condition as I've not wornn it for ages and always looked after it.
I'll have a think...

Just out of interest would that be £2525 list price?

You may be quite surprised at the kind of discounts offered on some watches. A friend picked up a NOS Crosswind (black dial gold numerals) with two tone pilot band for £1400 last year
