I have decided that a Doxa is the watch for me, and would love to try one on. Can anyone recommend a place in London which sells them? I have googled it and asked Doxa, but haven't had the reply and I am getting impatient.

Also, has anyone had any good or bad experiences with them? They seem very well made, same movement as a Paneria (I think) and they aren't a brand that everyone has (which is exactly what I want, it will be added to my Zenith, Tag and Omega).

Try to get the orange faced one - Dirk Pitt (a Clive Cussler fictional character) always wore one, and I believe someone on here has one as a limited edition run? May well keep it's value slightly more...

Jacques Cousteau was a fan of these too. That's enough to make them extremely cool diving watches in my book.

But I'm undecided about the full-on orange Doxas. I really like the look, but not sure I want to live with a bright orange dial on a daily basis? When I get one, I'll probably go for one of the more subtle Sharkhunter models with black dial. But I haven't ruled out the orange ones just yet. A Doxa diver is certainly the next watch for my growing collection.

As far as I know there are no UK Doxa suppliers. You can order from their website and with the FX rate the way it is, your Great British £ will buy 2 US$. Beware the import duty though!

hm, given that they are made in Switzerland, I think it might be better to wait until I get over there, although with the dollar the way it is, it makes a good purchase now.

I like the military style watch with the PVD coating. I am not bothered about it holding its value because I can't imagine I would ever sell it. Regardless, they are unusual and they seem good quality.

Has anyone ever bought one from a shop or are these more often bought online?

You'd be best off searching the Doxa website for official dealers. You can buy direct from Doxa through their website too, so I imagine many people do. Also better to ask questions here:-

I haven't got as far as buying one myself yet, so can't help you much more. Let us know how you get on.

I like the black faced sharkhunters like this 1000t but aren't sure about the bracelets. Has anyone seen one?

750t

This is my favourite the new 5000t with the different style bracelet.

Are the PVD ones after market jobs? I've not seen black ones for sale from DOXA.

The bracelets are a bit retro as they are re-creatons of the famous Doxa Sub from the 70s. The "beads of nice" bracelet was quite distinctive so I think they were right to keep it on these models.
The new 5000T has a more contemporary version, which I also prefer. The bracelets are easy to replace in any case. I'd probably wear it on a strap anyway.

No, they are "military" special eds from DOXA. Probably sold out as all their models are limited numbers.

Edit: SUB750T Sharkhunter Military (sold out)

Hi there, I have 3 Doxa's - Pro (orange), Sharkhunter (black) and Caribbean (blue).
Bought the Pro and Sharky second hand form watch forums.
As far as I know there are no European or UK dealers at present - you will have to buy direct from Doxa - but be warned you will be stung for VAT and customs charges, so factor that into the price.
You are probably better off buying used - some unworn examples advertised on various forums at the moment.

Here are mine:

Nice collection there woody. Are they all 42mm? Do they come with the rubber strap and bracelet?

Case on the 750T are 44mm (closer to 47mm with crown), they come with the bracelet as standard but you can get rubber straps direct from Doxa (about £30 iirc).
I've got a black rubber strap but to be honest I haven't put it on yet - think I prefer the bracelet.
Even though its a big watch (47mm lug to lug) they tend to wear smaller than they are - I have 6.75 inch wrists and it doesn't look too out of proportion (don't think I could wear anything bigger though!).
The 1000T has a slightly smaller case (44mm lug to lug) and 42mm acrros (minus crown) and a slightly domed crystal.

They seem relatively easy to buy in the USA and I am going there next week to Colorado and to New York. I'll have a look on some websites and see if I can find anything. I have already tried the US chain, Tourneau, and they don't seem to stock Doxa, but I'll keep checking. Otherwise, I'll wait until I get to Switzerland.

Woody, that's a fine collection, very taken with the shark hunter and the caribbean. They look more versatile than the military versions.

Thanks - they great watches, and not as common as Rolex's wink

Get yourself over to the DOXA Forum there's a few threads going on U.S dealers - there seem to be a few at the moment.
