Does anyone have an opinion on this Seiko?

I'm after a cheapish every day watch and thought it looked good, but wondered if anyone has had one and like/disliked them?

I wore Seiko's from 1967 up to the 1990's when I could afford better. Mostly automatics and some quartz, they were sturdy and good value for money. However, just be careful about the 50 metres bit - that is safe for doing the washing up only. Seiko do have, dearer admittedly, proper waterproof watches you can swim in.

I have a 1969 Seiko Automatic Navigator Timer which has never been serviced (has only just had its glass replaced) that I am wear every day and keeps good time.

I also have a 1996 Seiko Kinetic Sports 150 Diver which has had some serious abuse and keeps on ticking.

So, based on my experiences I say go for it!

How about getting a used "vintage" Seiko - they are great value and IMHO are very distinctive. There are some good ones at Chronomaster.

The Seiko 5 is a nice watch, not the exactly a hi-end movement (its was designed for auto watches in the £100-ish price bracket) but it comes in a million different styles so there will be one to suit.

the new Seiko Spirit line are replacing them are a bit more expensive, but have a much better movement (hacking & winding 6R15 as in the newer dive watches) and finish - might be worth considering?
