Which watch are you after? Most of the Rolex appear to have re-finished dials..

There was one with the off white honeycombed dial that looked interesting. 1941 £595

Yes, a few. Some good, some bad, one fake. Lots of people over selling their watches which always annoys me, but the watches bought from honest sellers who answer all your questions, provide lots of pictures and give you a good feeling (even if it sounds cheesy) are usually a good bet. Classics are a safer choice on eBay, as they're more likely to be worn and unboxed anyway, plus less chance of getting ripped off.

I bought my watch of Ebay recently. Absolutely no problems. Delivery took under 12 hours from the opposite end of country.

I just chose someone who was an established watch dealer and loads of positive feedback.

My first transaction was a TAG watch from a very well known seller. Anyhow when i received it the serial numbers had been etched out, will not buy from there again. Called the seller and he came up with some feeble excuse. Pot luck.

Oh i really want to name and shame...

Thanks for that folks.

I was wondering if its sensible to buy watches of such an age.
I assume they are very costly to repair if they go wrong, especially if thers no guarantee.

The thing is that I dont find the modern non sport oyster as smart as some of the vintage ones.
So Im wondering if its worth sacrificing age/looks for maintenance/reliability.

I've bought 2 watches on ebay without any problem, both patek's one from Florida which was a used watch and one from Arizona which was new.

The guy in Arizona deals mainly in new watches, all the quality brands and sometimes has the odd used watch at quite good money.
