Folks I've seen 2 Planet Oceans at good prices both non-chrono 42mm ones, the first is the black bezel with brown leather strap for £1368 (this has a slight scratch on the stainless steel case tho) and the other is the orange bezel one with the stainless steel bracelet this is £1400!!!! Both come with all the paperwork and warranty etc and are from high street authorised Omega Dealers!!!!

The problem is that I quite like the brown strap one, but not sure I can live with the tiny scratch and I am not sure that the orange bezel one will age well!!!

Opinions plz!!!

thanks

When i scratched my speedmaster reduced's case the first day i wore it i was pleased as that meant i could stop treating it with kid gloves, the same as i treat a brand new car with more care than if i bought a secondhand motor.

The orange faced omegas do nothing for me and personally i'd not buy one.

But at the end of the day go with the one YOU like the most as its you who's going to be wearing it.

Any high street Jeweller should be able to get the scratch out for you with little difficulty, and it shouldn't cost to much and you end up with the watch you want, any chance of haggling a discount due to the scratch?

When they first came out I loved the orange one, but soon lost interest in that (I still like it mind you), the black is timeless, just don't know if I could pay £1300+ for a scratched watch.

Offer them what you want to pay, leave them your telephone number for when they are ready to meet your price.

Clarkson wears a black bezel'd planet ocean.

Friend of mine has the orange and its ok but won't date well I fear.

That chef James Martin wears and orange face/orange strap PO on his saturday morning tv cooking show.

I've just paid £1400 for a brand new black face titanium Seamaster.

Ive got the 45mm Orange non chrono, and I like it, but if I only had one, then I would probably go for the black face as its more appropraite most of the time. ( I have a speedy with bracelet which I can also wear if the orange becomes a bit too much)

Yep I did exactly that, in the end I tried the orange one on with the SS strap, and after a bit of bargaining they knocked off a few hundred pounds more!!!

I opted for the orange as I already have a black faced tag carerra chronograph and wanted something different!!!

thanks mate!!

Yep well chuffed with it, this is my first Omega and the quality compared to the TAG feels far more superior, the Omega PO is such a rugged watch!!!

What if he wants to use it for swimming? I love the Speedy (own one myself), but it ain't a diver's watch.

Nice looking watch and if in X years time the orange looks dated, you can always get a black bezel fitted during a service.

Indeed that was my thinking too. I have the orange bezel with orange strap and the steel bracelet, when (if) I get bored I can also get the black bezel and have the best of all worlds smile

Yeah, the bezel can be replaced quite easily.

Omega straps are a complete rip-off though. Buy a quality aftermarket strap eg. Hirsch from www.timefactors.com or similar. Rubber or leather straps are disposable items regardless how much you pay and the Omega branded straps are nothing special anyway.
