I wouldn't want my £2k going through paypal - absolutely never
take a look at http://nopaypal.com/forums/ if you want some idea of why
I've had my account frozen and the holding onto £750 of my hard earned, ignoring everything I send to them in order to hold on to the funds

Try eBay, you should have no trouble selling a late model GMT II. If you prefer cash on collection, put it in the listing it is not an unreasonable request. A lot of buyers will probably prefer to meet in person, and buy directly. any watch of high value i would want to do a face to face.
I once sold a Jagure Le Coultre Master Geographic in rose gold via ebay... i didn't have any of the papers or the box as i had bought it off a friend and he didn't have them either (he got it in a house clearence) once the final bid of £3,500 had ended the sale, i contacted the buyer and gave him all the serial numbers of the watch to check with the police and Jagure LeCoultra that it wasn't stolen, then we arranged to meet at a motorway services that was half way from where we lived, I produced (once i was sure he was a genuine buyer) my drivers licence to prove who i was and my address, he gave me the cash and both of us went on our merry waysIf somebody is willing to pay £££££ for a watch, they are willing to meet you in person for it, if not...forget them and find somebody who is

i keep getting some bloke in italy wanting to buy it, he knows i dont want to pay via paypal.
if he transfers the money to my bank account is that cleared funds or can it still be retracted
J
Is he buying on or off ebay, what's his feedback history like? What is his bid, is it high? If it is ask your self why he would pay so much or even market rate when there are plenty of GMT's on mainland Europe? Ask your bank about the type of transfer, and make sure it cannot be retracted if drawn from a 'hacked' account.if he transfers the money to my bank account is that cleared funds or can it still be retracted

Did you not get any good UK bids that you can meet in person?
Hi 118118,
I sold a guitar on eBay to an italian for a few hundred and I got them to send me a postal order...
...now I think that there is a limit on how much can be sent in one postal order, but might be worth checking out - that way at least you'll have the cash in your hand (after a visit to the PO), before you send the watch.

ETA: Looking at the Post Office site, apparently you can't get british postal orders from Italy - I think it must have been an International Money Order which is pretty much the same thing.
