From 12 to 19 December 2007, IWC held an auction at www.iwc.com for a sensational one-of-a-kind watch and an original edition of Antoine de Saint Exupéry's debut novel, "Courrier Sud" (Southern Mail), for the benefit of the Tuareg school "Ecole des Sables - Antoine de Saint Exupéry" in Taboye, Mali. With around 100 bids, watch fans from all over the world competed with one another for the only example of the platinum version of the Pilot's Watch Automatic Edition Antoine de Saint Exupéry, Ref. 3201, with the serial number 01/01 dating from 2007. The starting bid of USD 30,000 eventually reached USD 57,500. The lot was finally knocked down to a bid from Hong Kong, submitted 2 minutes before the end of the auction.
