My favourite Rolex! lick
So much more elegant and delicate than the current version.

There were two in 'Vintage Rolex' in Burlington Arcade - SERIOUSLY overpriced.

David Duggan in Burlington had a Paul Newman - sold before it even made it into the window!

It must have been a different watch, but there was a very similar one for maybe £8-10k?

Walk up burlington arcade from piccadily, about halfway up on the right if memory serves

Beautiful. Is it really unrestored? That's great condition for a watch of that age.

It's interesting that loads of other watches with the same valjoux 72 based movement are worth a fraction of that these days.

I wonder how the current ones will be valued in thirty years or so.

I find this interesting too.

Same thing with the later Daytonas with the Zenith movement.

Better marketing/PR I would imagine.

To me it's a shame Rolex didn't keep that classic design with perhaps slight changes as they have with the Sub and Sea Dweller or GMT (until this year).

It's really very simillar to other 70's chronograph designs still in production like Speedmaster professionals and some Heuer Carreras. With the simple face, baton markers and classic simple bracelet. That watch could easily be in production today and still look great.

Although Rolex fans would now expect a Rolex movement.

I think it rather shows up the new model.
