Hello people.

I have been looking at the reduced version of omegas speedmaster online.. and i think its a great looking watch and have been reading about and most people seem to rate it also..

The question is, will it keep its value ok?

Im planning to buy a watch to wear day in day out, although I so wear a suit for work, i think it looks ok still?

Is there anything I shoudl know about them?

And where would you reccomend to buy from?

I live in west london

Thank you

no it won't keep its value - expect to loose about 50% off list after a few years

it will be fine used every day

not
authorised dealer for piece of mind (negotiate 15-20% off list, internet if you want cheaper - or buy second hand if you are bothered about loosing value

loads of omega dealers, if they don't come up with a reduction walk away and try another.

Best thing is to smile look at the ticket and nicely and simply ask somwthing like "What sort of movement is there in that price?"

It's honest and straight to the point.

Most good dealers will smile back and attempt to 'open negotiations' with you, nobody asks that question who isn't in the market, so they will see a possible sale based on a positive answer to your question. If he offers you 5% off simply smile and let him know that you were expecting more of an incentive to bash the card here and now. Keep it smiley and jovial and things will move towards your prefered price.

A mate of mine didn't beleive there was a chance of discount in highstreet dealers when we were looking at one in York. By simply nodding to the guy in the store whilst looking at the outsdie window display the saleman actually came outside and joined us at the window. Took me less than 30seconds to get an offer of 20% off, without even entering the store. Unfortunately this was just to prove a point to my mate and I wasnt actually in the market (read as: Skint) at that time frown .

Theres some big discounts on the high street if you look / get lucky i've had mine for about 3 weeks and it was advertised for £625 but i used some discount vouchers and got it for less, this was brand new in box and from an authorised high street dealer.
I'm heavy on watches and apart from a couple of small scratchs on the clasp (which would polish out) the only other damage i've done is 2 small knicks that i can't see but can only just feel on the top of the bezel when i knocked a concrete post, on my old watch i would have expected a large dent at the least.
