Just thought I would let you guys know that my IWC Spitfire Chrono has gone back to Switzerland for the 2nd time in 14 months (since new) as the Chrono functions stop working after 59 secs.

The first time it went back, it had completely stopped working and they 'upgraded the movement' apparently. It looks like the Chrono hasn't worked since they sent it back, so effectively it wasn't repaired in the first place. So, now, sending it back and forth has meant I have been without the watch for 3 months and it has cost me £65 in post and insurance as I bought it at the airport and have to send it from dealers...

I'm pretty sick of it to be honest... This is a watch that retails at £2400! Is there anything I can do? Should I write IWC a letter? I just want rid of it now I think - Very disappointing indeed! I just wear my Rolex Sub everyday now... It never lets me down and seems to keep more accurate time than my IWC!

sorry - i'm not sure why you're paying for it to be sent back to be fixed.

if i buy something and it breaks within warrenty, i take it back to the shop i got it from.who they use to repair it is up to them and they cover the cost of getting it to them.

why should a watch be different?

He said he bought it from the airport, so he can't take it back to where he got it from, although, airport duty free are chain outlets usually so, I don't see why you can't take it back to any other of their non-duty free chain outlets instead, as you say.

I travel a lot... i.e. I rarely happen to be in Heathrow Terminal 3 when my watch breaks and I haven't yet come across another one of the branches. It has been sent back through Finneys in Aberdeen and WoS off Oxford St. so far and who knows where it will breka next!

It's almost exciting! Not.

As mentioned take it back to any authorized IWC dealers. Surely the warranty is with IWC not the place you bought the watch from. Or an i missing something.....
