Recommendations please - Dress Watches upto £150
Discussion
Looking for a dress watch to wear at social and formal occasions. Will only be worn occasionally and therefore don't want to spend a lot on one.
Have daytime everyday watches - Omega Seamaster, Tag Heuer AquaRacer and Oceanus Titanium Chorongraph which are rotated or as my mood takes me.
Any suggestions/recommondations gratfully recieved.
Thanks

HI!
Have you thought about a vintage piece? - £150 would easily get you something interesting off ebay.
Put in "vintage watch" as a search term and you will come up with thousands of options!

I agree, I got this:Have you thought about a vintage piece? - £150 would easily get you something interesting off ebay.

and this:
Both for around the £150 mark (both now sold on mind ...)
Thanks for the suggestions chaps, been looking at e-Bay for a few days now and I had no idea how elegant the old Omega Seamaster's and other vintage watches are, and for that matter how reasonably priced.
Got my eye on a couple of Omega's at the moment and also a Rado Purple Horse Automatic. Anyone had any experience/know anything about it??
Regards
Chris

Omega provide good support for research into their vintage watches on...

You might have to factor in the cost of a service into a vintage watch - then again if you are only going to wear it as a dress watch for a few hours at a function accuracy is not that important. IMHO vintage Rado are undervalued and were always willing to experiment with cutting edge designs that may or may not stand the test of time. Look at vintage Girard Perregaux on ebay also [you will be surprised how reasonable they are!]
IMHO watches from WW1 are the best bargain at the minute. £150 would get you something over 90ys old that is still accurate and oh so cool. Always check the size of a vintage watch in the description as they are often smaller than modern ones. Art Deco American watches such as Gruen, Hamilton, Elgin and Waltham look elegant, sophisticated and different if their style floats your boat.
There are several vintage watch forums on the net where you can get good advice.
Perhaps you could try buying a few cheapies from different eras to see what you like to wear before parting with some real cash.
