A friend has a beautiful (to me anyway) gents solid gold dress watch as described above. No strap, just the watch. The face is a bit dirty, but it works and is in good condition. He has no idea if it is worth anything and I could give no clue. Any ideas?

Easy peasy, take it to a good jeweler for a valuation, in particular ones who sells the same watch perhaps.
