Was in a jewellers last night purchasing an eternity ring for the missus, and saw the Monaco sitting there for £2,250. I've always like this watch, and promised myself i'll have one...one day.....

I'm not a watch enthusiast, so I'm sure there are better watches, but that's the one I like, where's the best place (read: cheapest) place to get one from?

Cheers

The least hassle is to buy one from an authorised dealer, but ask for a discount of around 20% off MSRP. You should achieve this with average negotiating skills. Obviously there are loads of dodgy ones for sale on ebay etc on the black market.

I got mine in America. Buy there, you can remove the 2 at the beginning of your price and replace with a 1.

All the discussions about buying abroad, that hve been done to death on here, apply but a grand cheaper has to be worth the risk!

Try this outfit:

try aatime.co.uk, bought a carerra from them and the service was 10/10.

After trying on the Monaco, i would strongly advise that you try the carrera. its not as bulky as the monaco and is a bit more classy

Nobody in their right mind is going to pay RRP for a watch. I don't know why people bother quoting RRP in any country. You should quote the lowest price you can find as a real comparison. Reference to RRP is only used to convince your other half what a bargain you've found!

haha....fair enough...just said it to show the HUUUUUUUGE difference!

If you buy, say a monaco 69, from USA...and something went wrong within 12 months, do you have to deal with the store you bought it from or direct to Tag?

Depends on whether you get an International warranty or North American. Also depends whether you've paid the VAT and duty when bringing it into the UK. Chances are it will be fine, but might be more hassle.

I agree, when I bought my planet ocean, I went into a nice jewellers on the Champs Elysses in Paris and it was quite easy to negotiate over 500 euros off the asking price. Ended up paying about 1600 for a watch which is 2200-2300 over here.

Not unusual - just needs a failry straight forward "regulation" adjustment now it's run-in.

I have a carrera, definately would have bought the brown faced one if it had been available when I got mine. Easily got a 24% discount off list. One thing, since these do not have a screw in crown they are not totally waterproof.!
