My Seiko has finally packed in after a few months of general weirdness. It's not worth much but has lots of sentimental value so I'd like to get it repaired.

Does anyone know of a decent Seiko repairer with the necessary tools and knowledge to revive a Seiko Perpetual Calendar? I suspect its current problem is just a dead battery, but the calendar function wasn't working before that.

My Perpetual Calender threw a wobbly a year or so back. Only three or four years into a ten year battery. Watch cost £200ish (was a present), cost to replace battery and reset calender: £138!

On the flipside, my friends dad's 1961 Seiko automatic stopped working after 40 years daily use.

local seiko service centre sent it back to japan, it came back 6 weeks later in perfect working order, and hasn't skipped a beat since.

I wonder if other manufacturers in that price bracket would offer the same service wink

My near 12 year Kinetic keeled over and had to be sent away for service - I picked the nearest Ernest Jones (I think it was) for convenience.

A service cost me around the £130 - £140 mark and that was on a watch that only cost £200 new. I'm now in the marked for something else.

Cost isn't important for this one as far as I'm concerned. Will contact those mentioned above. Cheers.
